About Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP)

It is believed that Surfing and Stand Up Paddlesurf, or Paddleboard (SUP) was first practiced by ancient Polynesians in Tahiti and Hawaiians,as a form of transportation and ritual sport.  The Hawaiian Chiefs would demonstrate their authority by their skills in the surf. For these acient people being "watermen", at one with the water, and nature was considered part of their mythology and religion.

Today Stand up Paddleboarding (SUP) is becomming popular far away from the big waves of its origins. We are now Paddlsurfing, or Paddleboarding on lakes, and rivers here in Canada and Quebec, thourougly enjoying the pure fitness and fun of one of the fastest growing water sports in the world.

Stand Up Paddling Fitness is one of the most complete workouts found in sports today. To paddle long distances or in wavey conditions requires balance and real core strength. This is developed as you paddle. Just quietly touring a lake, or drifting down a river provides a continuos core workout. You feel the muscles from your shoulders, through your back,  to your legs and feet, all working together. A true core workout while quietly enjoying the nature surrounding you.

SUP really brings you close to nature more than most paddle sports. Imagine paddling a quiet lake on a hot day, stopping taking a dive in the refreshing water, then just lying down on your board to take in the sun and let the wind take you along. Can't do that on a kayak...
