About Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP)

It is believed that Surfing and Stand Up Paddlesurf, or Paddleboard (SUP) was first practiced by ancient Polynesians in Tahiti and Hawaiians,as a form of transportation and ritual sport.  The Hawaiian Chiefs would demonstrate their authority by their skills in the surf. For these acient people being "watermen", at one with the water, and nature was considered part of their mythology and religion.

About SUP MTL

SUP MTL was officially launched the summer of 2008 on "Halfmoon lake", one of the many beautiful lakes in northern Quebec.

In 2008 SUP MTL began working with surfer and surfboard shaper Brian / "Hovie"  founder of "Hoviesup.com", in California to find and develop a SUP board perfect for the Canadian lakes and rivers.

The SUP MTL team began paddling the first "Hovie" boards from California, on Quebec lakes on the St Jean Baptise holiday June 24 2009.
